A Chelsea deep plate made of the finest porcelain and from their celebrated Gold Anchor period. The centre features an attractive hand painted image of two exotic birds in a wooded landscape. Further decoration consists of three large floral sprays and a variety of scattered flowers of different sizes. The moulded outer rim is finished with gold gilt lining. A desirable and collectable piece from the 18th century.
The Chelsea factory's final production phase was their Gold Anchor period (1756-1769) which saw the creation of their most luxurious porcelain designs. Intended for members of the Royal Family and aristocracy who avidly collected these pieces of the highest quality.
This authentic Chelsea Gold Anchor plate, currently for sale, is from around 1758 to 1760. Made from the finest porcelain paste with its attractive milky-white base colour that made the Chelsea factory so famous. The naturalistic scenes show rich enamel colourings that can only have been applied by a master painter and illustrator.
The condition of this high quality decorated plate is excellent. With no cracks or chips and vibrant colours. A number of small knife marks are visible in the glazing. The bottom edge shows a few areas of worn gilt. Marked by the Chelsea factory with their gold anchor logo to authenticate this striking piece of porcelain.
