During the Renaissance highly skilled glassworkers from Bohemia (currently part of the Czech Republic) became famous for their beautiful and colourful glass. For centuries Bohemian glass, also referred to as Bohemian crystal, has been internationally recognised for its high quality, craftsmanship, and beauty.

And this is the best way to describe this pair of Bohemian Tulip vases, sheer beauty. Manufactured in striking burgundy red, white and clear glass with external flower decoration. The vases are typified by their elegant and slender tulip shape. The crown shaped top of the petal rims is hand cut and features gilded detailing. A few traces are still visible of this gold coloured decoration. A rounded foot completes the design of this stunning set of vases produced from the late 19th century.

Both vases are in good condition with few external marks. No cracks or restoration. The underside of both feet have some loss of colour and there is a little loss of glass on the bottom rim  of one of the feet. This is all age related and due to wear over the last 140 years or so. Please see the product photos for further details.

The vases were part of the personal collection of a glass collector and expert dealer that started trading in 1991. This set really stood out for us as we had not seen this decoration and colour used on a Bohemian tulip vase before.
