A Pair Of Cast Iron Garden Urns Black 22cm VINTAGE
Set of weathered garden urns of an elegant shape and compact size. Standing almost 22cm tall, the urns are of the right weight to be easily moved around, yet not blow over in the wind. However with some of the freak weather lately it might be safer to keep them low by the ground in a heavy storm.
This brings us nicely into the subject of using them for displays. As mentioned they have a beautiful shape, very Grecian in design. Because of this look they will display very well on their own showing off the lovely weathering of the exterior and interior of the urns.
But, many will agree with us that they will probably look at their best filled with plants and flowers. The urns are so versatile and could be used for displays in the garden throughout the year. For the spring they will look lovely planted up with bulbs such as mini daffodils. For the summer time the urns would look great with miniature ball shaped box plants. For the autumn and winter period they could have a classic look with red, white, pink or purple cyclamen and some trailing ivy.
Please note that the urns have no drill holes, hence the plants will need some extra care and attention. An appropriate potting mix, a drainage layer and a cautious watering regime should allow plants to thrive.
We opted for some lovely heather for the product photographs to give you an idea of how this could look. Planted up the urns looked amazing displayed on a garden table. But alternatively they could be brought indoors and be part of a smart interior in the lounge or in a conservatory.
The condition of both urns is excellent, one small nibble on one of base corners. The outside surface is weathered and rust marks are present, exactly the condition that we love items like this to be in.
