A fine antique example of a traditional walking stick with a crook handle. Made from sycamore, a large fast growing tree found throughout Britain and the North of Europe. Praised for being a sturdy type of timber it has been widely used for making utensils, furniture and other objects.
Sycamore is strong and durable hence ideal for the making of walking sticks. This is a handcrafted example that has taken on a fine colour. The stick feels solid and is in good condition. However, it carries the marks of one hundred years of use and a small area of the outer layer has lifted. A new brass ferrule with rubber base has been fitted. A lightweight yet sturdy piece of history ideal for use or display in a home or business.
