Barbour NATO M12 International Waxed Jacket Olive Green 46 XL VINTAGE
Barbour's International motorcycle jacket is one of their most iconic designs. During the late 1980's and early 1990's a special version of this jacket was developed and made for the British Army. Named as the M12 NATO this military grade garment was issued together with a pair of matching motorcycle trousers to a number of the Army's dispatch riders.
Heavyweight waxed cloth, strong high quality stitching and high grade metal hardware were used to construct Barbour's M12 NATO International motorcycle suits. Made in small numbers and most commonly in black. Collectors tell us that jackets made in the second colour, olive green, are some of the most desirable and sought-after pieces.
Now available from our website is one such olive green jacket, a Barbour M12 NATO International, made in size 46 / 117cm. Manufactured in Barbour's South Shields factory in the early 1990's.
This vintage Barbour NATO jacket is in excellent condition. It has led an easy life as there are few signs of wear. The interior and exterior are without rips or other damage. All brass fittings (now nicely weathered) are present and fully working and both YKK zippers run without effort. At the bottom of the jacket where the lining is attached to the hem, the tartan fabric is showing faint signs of wear, small marks and a few areas with some discolouration.
The former owner had the jacket re-waxed and the missing belt was replaced by Barbour. As is common with many NATO jackets all production and sizing labels were removed (probably after the decommission). The Barbour International Suit and Barbour Care labels are present and are like new. This M12 jacket is a wonderful example of beautifully designed and manufactured British clothing.
