Franz Xavier Bergmann Reclining Nude Lady Erotic Cold Painted Bronze Figurine ANTIQUE
There is more than meets the eye with this adorable statue of a reclining young lady. Upon opening the two hidden hinges it becomes clear that underneath her ornate robe she is wearing very little indeed. Manufactured in the Art Nouveau style around 1910, this beautiful cold painted bronze statue was crafted by the Bergmann foundry in Vienna. Son of the first owner, Franz Xavier Bergmann (1861-1936) the factory was world famous for high quality and detailed cold-painted bronzes with oriental and animal as well as erotic and nude themes. To hide the true identity of these risqué products, they were often marked with the Bergmann name in reverse, Nam Greb.
This statue is in great condition, showing a few small marks consistent with its age. The piece carries the Namgreb mark. A striking piece for all interiors.
