Framed Print Duchess Lorikeet Birds Of New Guinea John Gould VINTAGE

A large reproduction print of the Charmosyna Margarethae Tristram published by the British Museum. The original illustration can be found in the famous and valuable book series The Birds of New Guinea and the Adjacent Papuan Islands by English ornithologist John Gould (1804 - 1881). The five volumes were published between 1875 and 1888 and feature spectacular hand coloured lithographic plates.

The Charmosyna Margarithea (first mistakenly named Margaritae), Tristram is a small parrot found in the tropical forests and plantations of the Solomon Islands and Bougainville Island in Papua New Guinea. Commonly known as the Duchess Lorikeet it has a striking appearance of vibrant red with wings and back in green and a yellow stripe across the chest.

This wonderful piece of wall art is in excellent condition. This professional presentation was completed several years ago, but now carefully cleaned and refreshed in our framing workshop. Presented in a custom mount with hand applied wash line decoration and fitted in a high quality wooden frame. Ready to hang on your wall.
