Georgian Bronze Pestle & Mortar English 17th Century ANTIQUE

A beautiful pestle and mortar set made in the 17th century. It made us immediately think of a Diana Gabaldon's character from the succesful Outlander books. The television series with the same name introduces us to Claire Fraser, a healer, and her wonderful 18th century surgery. Amongst the drying herbs, glass cloches and other assembled medical equipment, this pestle and mortar set would not look out of place.

The mortar is made of bronze, standing almost 4 inches tall. The weight is re-assuring and when tapped with a finger or object the sound is clear as a bell. The pestle is approximately 25cm in length. The mortar is engraved one-sided with the initials 'A' and 'M'. It is a beautiful object designed and manufactured back in Georgian times that is still practical today and will look amazing in any kitchen. In excellent condition, marked  with the lumps and bumps of many hundreds of years.
