Hardy Bros Alnwick Black Japanned Dry Fly Fishing Box & Flies ANTIQUE
Collectable dry fly box retailed by Hardy Brothers of Alnwick at the beginning of the 20th century. The brothers started their partnership back in 1873 designing and manufacturing some of the highest quality of fishing equipment available.
The clever design of this early dry fly box features several areas to store fishing flies. The top left of the case is fitted with cream felt that makes access to frequently used flies easy. The bottom left has a circular shaped compartment for storing fishing wire. In the centre is a small cork platform that provides fast access to favourite flies.
The other half of the box features two rows of six, or twelve compartments for keeping dry flies separate. All sections are lidded with six transparent sliding covers, an innovative solution. This Hardy case is supplied with a collection of period dry flies.
The lid carries the coveted Hardy Bros Ltd Alnwick badge.
In good condition: interior and exterior show signs of use, small paint losses and other marks of wear. Hinges are undamaged, opens and shuts freely without resistance, does not lock. A collectable antique, ideal for display in home interiors old or new.
