Hardy Bros Ltd Alnwick Black Japanned Fly Fishing Tin & Flies ANTIQUE

In 1873 brothers William and John James form their partnership selling fishing tackles and shotguns. Hardy Brothers Ltd based in Alnwick built up their worldwide reputation for the production of fishing gear of the highest quality. The firm received recognition with several Royal Warrants.

This smart looking black japanned fly fishing tin was one of the quality products sold by Hardy Brothers around the start of the 20th century. Its cream painted interior is fitted with 6 rows of 7 metal hooks on each half of the tin. This allows for 84 flies to be stored safely. A small selection of period flies is included with this 6 inch fly tin.

The outside lid carries the coveted Hardy Bros Ltd Alnwick badge.

In good condition: interior and exterior show signs of use and paint loss. Also some shallow dents and other marks of wear. Hinges are undamaged, opens and shuts freely without resistance, does not lock. A collectable antique, ideal for display in home interiors old or new.
