Mappin & Webb Ladies Handbag Brown Lizard Skin 1950's VINTAGE
The origins of luxury retailer Mappin & Webb can be traced back to 1775. This British firm received their first Royal Warrant in 1875 and have provided uninterrupted service to five monarchs over a period of 125 years.
This early version of their sought-after lizard skin ladies handbag dates from the early reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The outer panels are made of high quality tanned/medium brown leather hides, known for its unique patterns formed by the scales of this exotic reptile. The interior of the bag is lined with a luxurious suede leather, soft to the touch and in a matching tan colour.
Compact in size, yet spacious enough with one main compartment. For the storage of smaller items the interior is fitted with two side pockets with open access, another zipped pocket and a pen pocket. The stylish brass clasp keeps the contents safe. Fitted with a short leather handle, also made of lizard hide.
This elegant Mappin & Webb ladies bag is in pristine condition. It shows only the smallest signs of wear as the bag was used on rare occasions only. Much time was spent on treating and softening the lizard skin, all leather parts were carefully cleaned and fed with professional products. Its suede interior was also carefully cleaned, brushed and treated. Supplied with a small notebook and pen and original Mappin & Webb box.
