Pair Of Bookends Reclaimed Railway Track VINTAGE
Although we are no trainspotters we do have a love for the railways. There is something so romantic about travelling by train. Hence we could not resist the unmistakable side profile of this super-attractive set of bookends. Made from offcuts of old and redundant railway track once used by the London Underground. We have been told that rails like this could have a lifespan for almost fifty years.
The railway track bookends have been carefully prepared. This approach makes the most of the unique surface that was created over time by the many dents, pit holes, stain and rust spots. The many years of carrying tube trains are responsible for the now heavily worn track edges. A nice detail is a factory roll mark of the #5 that was applied during the manufacturing process.
The bookends are now ready for use in your home. The steel has a smooth finish with diagonal mini edging that was hand finished. Offcuts of track are not precision cut hence some of the flat sides will not be completely square on. Clear lacquer should protect the pieces and their beautiful worn look for many years.
