The Persian city of Kashan is located in central Iran. Its weavers have the reputation of manufacturing some of the highest quality rugs and carpets in the world. Not only hard wearing but also highly decorative with colours of subtle brilliance.
This version of a hand knotted Persian rug from Kashan is a beautiful example of their use of stunning colours. The central field is decorated with flower and foliage motifs set against a ivory/beige coloured background. The centre is dominated by a large navy blue medallion with in its midst a vibrant red.
An exquisite repeat border design with Shah Abbas palmettes surround the edges. The short edges of the rug are finished with ivory tassels. Made by a highly skilled weaver this striking rug is a striking piece of floor decoration.
This Persian Kashan rug is in great condition, without tears or stains. The edging is undamaged, the rug pile shows signs of light wear. The fringes are mainly intact, with only a small number worn down or missing. Clean and ready to use.
