The year 2023 marked the 150th anniversary of Poole Pottery. This British manufacturer, established in 1873, opened their first factory at the quayside in the Dorset town of Poole. The designs of their talented ceramicists and designers contributed greatly to the Art Nouveau and Art Deco period as well as the Modernist movement. The shapes, designs and colours used by the artists employed by the Poole Pottery were made to be recognised and are collected the world over.
This example of a medium bouquet sized Poole Pottery vase is decorated with one of their most striking designs. Named 'Volcano' it is hand painted with deep red colours and vibrant oranges. Totally unexpected is the use of splashes of turquoise, a blue to green colour, that creates a contrasting and vibrant look to this beautiful vase. The interior surface is covered with a bright blue. The shiny glaze protects the outer and locks in the colours. Ideal for adding a splash of colour to all interiors.
This Poole Pottery Volcano vase is in first class condition. It is without chips, cracks and restoration, the bottom piece carries printed factory marks.
