Set Of Three Grand Tour Intaglios French Kings 19th Century ANTIQUE
Young men of means travelled in the 17th, 18th and 19th century to experience European classical culture. These journeys were called a 'Grand Tour' and it was common to bring back souvenirs like these intaglios. Made of plaster or sometimes hard paste that was impressed with famous portraits, renowned architecture as well as scenes from ancient Rome and Greek mythology.
This striking presentation contains three intaglios with side portraits of the kings of France, Louis V (Le Faineant), Francis II and Charles IX.
We love these amazing reminders of times long passed. Framing is one of the best way to show off a collection of Grand Tour intaglios. This selection of three plaster medallions (individually measuring 5cm approx.) are fitted on a red velvet effect background and displayed in modern show box frame. Fully protected against dust by clear glass, they will make a wonderful addition to all decors.
Four versions of framed intaglios, as pictured, are currently available
