Set Of Three Steam Locomotive Engineering Drawing Prints Framed COLLECTABLE

British engineering company B Hick & Sons (later Hick, Hargreaves & Co), founded in 1833, are specialists in heavy industry engineering. The company's first steam locomotive was assembled by their Bolton factory in 1833. Between 1837 and 1855 a large number of engines were built for railway companies in England and Scotland as well as for further afield.

In 1974 an exhibition catalogue was assembled of Hick Hargreaves engineering drawings. Dating from 1833 to 1855, and drawn by Benjamin Hick Sr. and John Hick who are responsible for possibly the finest engineering plans that exist today. Not only are the images of great interest for the smallest technical detailing, but also the amazing workmanship, skilled artistry and harmonious colouring on show.

Currently available from us online is a set of three large frames with showing five engine reproduction prints from the Hick Hargreaves archive, rarely available. The drawings show the engineering and inner workings of several Hick & Sons early steam locomotives. Fascinating for anyone with an interest in steam engines and/or engineering. But also extremely decorative as these engineering drawings (reproduced with full copyright) are beautifully presented in their double mounts and gold coloured wooden frames.

The prints were professionally mounted and framed in 2007, a very light fading of the colours shows that they have been on display before. The condition of the frames is very good, the gold paint shows some small areas of wear. The mounted presentations were carefully removed from the frames for cleaning. The old glass has been updated with a modern clear acrylic with UV protection to ensure that these beautiful and unique prints can be enjoyed for many years to come.
