Wheatley Fly Fishing Box & Flies Aluminium 3.5 x 2.5" 1960's VINTAGE
Richard Wheatley has manufactured fly fishing boxes since the 1860's. This British company has a worldwide following by fishermen and collectors alike. Their fly boxes are a combination of great design and the highest standards of workmanship.
This Wheatley slimline aluminium fly box, also known as the waistcoat box, is a popular and sought-after version. Finished with a unique satin finish that is still used by Wheatley today. Measuring just 3.5 by 2.5 inches with a thickness of just 0.4 inches (10mm) the case will fit into most shirt pockets.
One of the short sides of the exterior is engraved with the small Wheatley's lozenge logo (diamond resting on one point). This logo was introduced in 1928 and used on the waistcoat boxes until 1966. Because of the provenance we have, the box is likely to be from the 1960's.
This compact fly box is made with an interior space for 69 flies (30 smallest and 21 small clips). A beautiful collection of vintage flies for trout fishing are also included. Useable today for fly fishing or for display in your home.
In excellent condition: interior and exterior show signs of use and marks of wear. Hinges are undamaged, opens and shuts without resistance, stays unlocked.
